answer:-
the poem “once upon a
time “ was written by “ garbriel okara”. He was born in april 21, 1921 in
bumodi , Nigeria. He was a Nigerian poet and novelist whose verse had been
translated into several languages by the early 1960’s.
Once upon a time is a fine
poem where the poet expresses his strong desire to go back to once upon a time . this poem is in the form
of an address by the speaker to his son. In good olden days, people used to
laugh heartily. It expressed their real happiness . there was warmth in their
greetings. There eyes joined their mouths in conveying their real feelings.
but these days people laugh with their teeth. It is neither
natural nor heartfelt. It is just for the sake of others. The artificially exposed teeth look
like a snake’s bare fangs. They say one thing and mean differently. the speaker
also learnt artificial ways of
behaviour. But he finds it difficult to pretend . he wants to behave as
naturally as he used to do when he was a child . he asks his son to show how to
laugh heartily.
